Jeff Adkins is the founder and Master Trainer of Tri State K-9, the founder of Tri-State K9 Search and Rescue Association. Jeff is also an active NRA Certified firearm Instructor in Basic Pistol Shooting, Personal Protection in the Home, Personal Protection Outside the Home, Basic Rifle Shooting, Basic Shotgun Shooting, Home Firearm Safety, Range Safety Officer, members of the Homeland Security task force for southern WV region and a former Patrolman for New Haven Police Department. In New Haven Jeff was responsible for establishing their first K9 unit, Sasha, as well as training their current K9 unit, Dakota. Jeff is able to do this because of his training, and by becoming a Master Trainer with ASCT National K9. Graduate of FrontSight Defensive handgun course 2013

Jeff has trained under Mike Munson of the Augusta K9 Services among numerous other trainers in the country.

Zach Adkins, Owner of Tri State K9 Services, is a member of the Homeland Security Task Force Southern Division, Certified K9 Handler, and Incident Management Unified Command for Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and Enhanced Conventional Weapons incidents

Zach started his dog-training career at the age of 14 while imprinting his first detection dog. Since then he has helped in the breeding and raising numerous dogs for the private sector and has produced numerous trained police dogs to our country.

Zach is a graduate of Point Pleasant High School and continues to train dogs for Tri-State K9 Service. He is also second in command for the Search and Rescue unit and ARES member.

The Facility

Tri State K9 has been in the Tri-State area since 2002 when we started our kennel moving it from Ohio. First opened in Ohio, then moved the kennel to West Virginia and opened the training facility at that point. Our staff breed, raise and train Police Dogs, Service Dog Training, protection dogs and personnel pets. Malinois, German Shepherds, Labs, Golden Retrievers, and Bloodhounds.

Our dogs are meticulously trained for scent detection, scent discrimination, protection, patrol, tracking, and Search and Rescue operations. The facility, 100+ acres with an abundance of land and roads for maximum training capability. In addition, the facility houses a lighted agility training course and agitation area, as well as, scent areas both indoors and out. We have training locations in Teays Valley, WV, Huntington, WV as well as other locations in the local areas.

Tri State k9 is constantly evolving and expanding this training facility for more than just K9 training.

They now have a shooting range, a SRT training field and, are still working on a disaster recovery field for cadaver and other dogs.

Now we also have added a few things to our services Security Consulting Corporate Training, Repossession Services, Glock Armorer, and online education. We teach pepper spray, baton, handcuffing, we meet all PMIAA requirements for police Instruction, CPR, First Aid, ADE, pet first aid, firearms instruction all levels handguns, rifle, shotgun, and concealed carry permit training. We have been, NIMS ICS trained in 100,200,300,400,700,800, CERT Trained, National weather Spotter Trained, Search & Rescue team leader, Amateur Radio Operator. ARES Members.

Community Relations

Tri-State K9 Services is proud to be able to operate a full time non-profit Search and Rescue unit for the community's needs. In addition the company donates a police dog ever year to a department in need. This can be a local or national department, however, the need must be clearly stated and the station must meet certain requirements./p>
